weird day

Today has been a strange day.

First, my cats got into a huge fight. Bijou and Marble don't exactly love each other, but they do stay away from one another- so when I heard hissing and meowing, I knew they were up to no good. I found a very angry Marble and a Bijou with a scratched up nose. Why? I have no idea. But for the rest of the day, these two cats slunk around the house, royally pissed off.

So then I go to the store to pick up some toilet paper and laundry detergent. Uh, guess what a friendly bird decided to deposit on my toe just as I was walking into the store. This is supposed to be good luck, right?

Look what I found at the supermarket! I had to bring this guy home. I'm a fan of mutant produce, I always feel like if I don't take them no one else will! (Kind of like on "Friends" when Phoebe felt bad for the puny Christmas trees, remember?)

Fortunately, there was a happy ending to a rather bizarre day. Bridget brought this tortilla soup by! I'd never had tortilla soup before (crazy, right?) and she instructed me to eat it with the tortilla strips, fresh avocado, and sour cream. It was so flavorful and spicy. Thank you Bridget! (Go to her blog for the recipe link)

I'm going to go to bed now, and hope tomorrow is slightly less Twilight Zone-ish!

i haven't ever had tortilla soup, but i've come across a couple recipes lately (and now the one you used) so i think i'll give it a try!

yay, i'm glad my molasses cookies worked out for you! and yep, my cookie recipes will usually only be for a half dozen the first time around just in case they turn out bad. haha.

That's one crazy peach! It reminds me of the carrots from our garden that grow all weird and end up looking like hands.

I've never had tortilla soup before, but now I'm intrigued. It looks absolutely delicious!

When it rains, it pours, right? Sorry it was such a weird day...but there's a reason that dancers wish each other "merde" before going onstage. Hope the kitties have made up.

That tortilla soup looks divine--what anice freind Bridget is to share it with you. Today will be much better.

What a sweetie Bridget is. That soup looks awesome.

One day Marty & I were at the vet and there was this little 4 year old boy with shaggy sandy blonde hair. He had a cat in a cat carrier and he was telling us all about his cat. We asked him what his favorite thing to do with his cat was and he proudly exclaimed, "I kiss the cat." Marty & I cracked up and we found ourselves saying that many times over the years. Looks like you need to kiss the cats also. :)

Ooh sorry about your bizarre-o day - we all have them from time to time. Poor Bijou with her little scratched nose. :-( Maybe there was some weird cosmic thing going on that we weren't aware of. *shrugs* Hopefully today is running more smoothly for you!

P.S. that peach is crazy! Good for you for rescuing the mutants. :D

I'm just like you with the mutant produce! I always think that it must be sad that no one else wanted it. haha

That tortilla soup looks fantastic. I've still not ever had that, but I think I might try it in the near future.

What a strange day. I hope your kitty's nose is OK. I've only ever had a bird poop on me once. If it is supposed to be good luck, that would explain a lot! :o)
I've never had tortilla soup either. I've been curious, but never made it. The one in your photo looks delish!

Tortilla soup looks awesome, and the peach does too. I love mutant veggie and fruit too, if I don't take it home with me, who will?

Now I will go through all of my 'starred' posts in google and see if there's anything there I have to cook tomorrow, we're having guests, yay!

There is something sexy about that peach. I don't know, it's just me.
It is sad when pets don't get along. I guess cats hold longer grudges than dogs too. Dogs can fight and then play a second later.
I am sure that the bird poop must be good luck, they are alive and must be doing well enough to eat and then of course poop so, it good luck for all of us- for now anyway:)

You know I am impressed with the peach!

I have spent my whole life being grateful for never having been pooped on by a bird. Too bad. And what a cool peach!

What a crazy day! Hello Bazu!! i sure hope things are better the rest of the week.

i looked at your kitty's nose and shed a little tear. Poor pumpkin... Do/did you treat that boo-boo with some kind of ointment or cleanser?

i have heard it's good luck to get pooped on. (i've been pooped on several times, btw, once in the HAIR when i was eating lunch, yuck!!... but i sure don't feel especially lucky)

i had to laugh about your mutant produce longing... i'm always the one to take in the kinda mushy tomato, the bruised apple, the brown-spotting banana.

Tortilla soup!! Mmmmmmmmm! Tres bien.

*HUGS*

Oh, I'm so sorry about the kitties fighting... That's so disturbing. Hopefully they've "worked out" whatever issue they had & will settle into a friendlier routine again! But the birdpoop! I can't believe you actually photographed it!!! That's hilarious. I'm glad that your bizarro world day had a happy ending.

Ohhh poor kitties.
Thanks for that graphic image of poo on your toe.. we needed that!
I dunno about that peach.. I wouldn't be able to eat that haha.
But the soup looks delicious! I need to befriend some people who will stop by and bring me food!

I'm glad to hear the kitties are doing better. You never know what gets into their heads. We had to keep Liam locked in the bathroom when he was sick and then when we let him out just a few days later his best buddy Obi was growling and acting like he couldn't recognize Liam. But within 24 hours they were best friends again. So strange.

I'm glad you think bird poop is good luck! The worst is when it hits your head!

The soup looks so good.
