Walk for Farm Animals

Ithaca Walk for Farm Animals, October 2006

I can't believe it has already been a year since Daiku and I participated in Farm Sanctuary's Walk for Farm Animals last October. Well, the time has come to register for this year's walk! In case you are interested, there are walks happening all over the country that you too can participate in. Click here to find the walk nearest you.

This year, I have created a fund-raising page with firstgiving.com, to allow me to raise even more money for my walk. You can see the firstgiving logo to the right on the blog's sidebar, or you can go directly to my page to donate here: http://www.firstgiving.com/bazu

Please consider donating to my walk, or participating in a walk of your own! Every dollar you donate is greatly appreciated by all the farm animals that Farm Sanctuary rescues and houses.

Thank you so much!

what a nifty thing to do! I'll look into it more when I'm more awake from my cat nap.

I did this last year, too. Unfortunately, it wasn't held ina very visible venue here.

And I read your comment about Rachel Ray. Actually, I like raw nuts, too. But I consider "giggle and perk" to be positive qualities. Wish I had more! (I'm all sarcasm and irony.)

oh cool! I remember reading your other posts about this... I wish there was one near me!

Also, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to go to Iran with you! Holy cow! It would be so fun and wonderful. (and uncomfortable! ha! ;) ) ... I had plans in the works to go this fall, and they fell through. Too bad. I really hope to go someday - and have even started trying to learn farsi at different times in my life so that I would be prepared. Haha! And all the Iranian architecture & the persian minatures! And we could talk about art while we were there... :)

love Amey

What a wonderful reason to go for a walk! Sad to see that there were no listings for Texas. I know a local group was trying to organize one here in Houston but had a hard time.

Cool! We don't have this kind of things often - at least for the animals, where I live. But all the best for the fundraising and walk!

Yeah, you WALK girl! I did that walk in Iowa City last year and I loved being able to read about bloggers experiences with it in other places - you in Rochester, Urban Vegan in Philly... and others, too. Thanks for your response to my last post. It meant a lot.

And now, I'm off to the farmers' market :-) You've inspired me to do an FM post!

Hi Bazu,
I used real photos as the sources for the paintings... and that was actually the hardest part of the whole project. It's very difficult to find all those old pictures, and some leaders (like Nelson Mandela or Yassar Arafat) didn't even have pictures of them taken when they were children.

The painting of Saddam is very touching, because already at such a young age you can see a tremendous amount of emotional scarring and "toughness." Very sad, for him, and it turns out, for millions of others as well.
