taking my research seriously

These are the lengths I am willing to go for my research for Hezbollah Tofu.** That's right, in less than 4 days, Daiku and I will be in Paris, tracking down the best veggie food France has to offer. I'm freaking out a little here trying to get ready and have everything packed while also planning my class for this week and keeping the house in order. But I'm excited! I will try to keep blogging, but as you know, my travel blogging doesn't always go as planned. I will be back by March 15. Au revoir, mes amis!

** I actually mean research for my dissertation, but it sounds so much less exciting!

Paris is wonderful for vegans! Make sure you go to:

La Victoire Supreme du Coeur:
http://www.vscoeur.com/

L'as du fallafel at 34, rue des rosiers in the Marais

Enjoy tofu soufflé at Les Cinq Saveurs d'Anada:
http://www.anada5saveurs.com/

Feast on the vegan Ethiopian platter at Restaurant Ethiopia: 91 rue du Chemin Vert

and, most importantly, stock up on Chokénut (vegan nutella!! it's amazing!) at La Nature à Paris--a little organic shop at métro Maubert Mutualité in the 5th (45 bd. St Germain)

(I lived in Paris while completing my dissertation. These places kept me happy and well-fed).

Bon voyage!

Yay!

I hope you have a wonderful time. Don't forget to save an entire day (or 2) for the Louvre - it is SO amazing!

Enjoy - & have safe travels. Oh, & good luck finding that Hezbollah Tofu, too :)

Oh you are so lucky! We went to Paris and London several years ago. I will never forget how gorgeous the Arc de Triumphe was - so much more than the Eiffel tower! And yes, spend at least 4 hours in the Louvre. Actually, I loved the Musee Rodin and Musee d'Orsay (Impresssionists) just as much. Make sure to get a Carte Pass for all the museums and monuments - it saves you a ton of money!

As far as food places, I fondly remember Le Grenier de Notre Dame (near Notre Dame, of course in the 18 arrondisement). It had amazing vegetarian and vegan dishes and I think some raw dishes, too. The decor was all green plants and so lush! Enjoy!

I've rarely had great vegan experiences in France, but definitely get some of that falafel in Paris!

There's some pretty good Indian food by Gare du Nord in Paris too.

Good luck in your trip,

Thank you everyone for your well wishes, and especially for your food suggestions! I won't have too much free time since I'm going for work, but I'll definitely have time to eat, so keep 'em coming!

hi. about a year ago i did what i like to call a "vegan tour of paris in 2 days," and afterwards i blogged about it here and here. i don't know if you have a chance to take a look at all of that before you get back (or at all) but i hope you do get to go at least to la victoire supreme du coeur, which rocks indeed! enjoy!

They have great Soy Yogurt in France--Sojasun, I think it's called. So much better than anything I've had here.

I never had a problem getting something to eat. They looked at me funny when I asked for "no cheese" but always accommodated. the only truly veg place I ate was Le Grenier de Notre Dame--aeveryone in the family enjoyed it. Lots of good ethnic food rounds out the options.

Bazu!! I hope your trip to Paris was awesome--it's my favorite city in the world, you know :) Can't wait to hear all about it. I have not visited as a vegan yet, so I'm interested in hearing how you fare.

Oh yes, and I would LOVE to talk San Francisco with you sometime soon...
