where to start?

Ok, I can't seem to blog or even be online as frequently as I used to, and as I want to! Does this ever happen to you guys? Ever since Daiku and I got back to Syracuse in January, we have been a little less than creative with food, photography, everything that would be blog-worthy.

I know that this happens to almost everyone from time to time, and that sooner or later I will be back to blogging at a quicker pace. But for now, I'm just checking in to let you know that I haven't gone anywhere!

If you are a member of the PPK, you might recognize the above image. For a few weeks now, I have been using my pictures of food to make photo mosaics, each in a different color. So far I'm up to 6: green, orange, red, pink, purple, and yellow. They are really fun to make, and a bit addictive. Also, they have helped me immensely as I struggle with winter depression- just looking at all these bright, fresh foods makes me happier! It is amazing the variety of colorful foods that vegans eat, no?

You can look at the individual mosaics posts on the PPK as follows:

green
yellow
orange
red
pink
purple

And, thanks to some peer pressure encouragement, I have put the designs up on Cafe Press. If you want a food mosic journal, or t-shirt, or tile, or (my favorite!) clock, you can buy it here: www.cafepress.com/bazu

Please browse and tell me what you think! I've never done anything like this before, so all of you with more graphics and design experience and knowledge than me, please feel free to give me feedback! In any case, I hope the mosaics bring you guys some happiness, especially if like me, you are staring outside at a cloudy snowscape and wondering if spring will ever get here.

As for me, I'm off to visit all of your blogs and see what you've been up to! Oh, and I'm looking forward to having my 100,000th blog hit in the next day or two. This is so amazing to me, and makes me more grateful than ever for all you visitors!

Oh, I can totally relate to the blogging blahs. I just confessed to having them on my own blog, and from the comments, it seems like a lot of us suffer from them from time to time. I'm blaming the winter!

I'm clicking over to see your CafePress stuff. I love the mosaics and can't wait to see what you've done with them.

Yes, i definitely understand the burnout. I have been feeling it a bit too lately.
I saw your cafepress shop the other week... just stumbled on it really! Those are awesome mosaics, full of color.
Hope some inspiration comes to you soon. And congrats on 100,000! Wow, that's amazing.

Oh yeah,
I feel ya Bazu. These things happen. I'm actually experiencing a little burst of bloggy enthusiasm these days (which equals something like 7 posts in one month! ha!)... but my life is just so much busier than it used to be. I think I'll always prefer quality over quantity. An occassional fun post like this one - with those awesome photo mosaics!! - is well worth the wait.

100,000! That's heaps!

I understand about the busy-ness, it's looming on the horizon for me with the semester starting next week here. It's good to see you posting when you do find the time, though!

I've been admiring your mosaics on flickr and I looked at cafepress and the tiles are my favorite too! I'll have to see which color will go best in my kitchen.

I do believe the winter blues have fallen upon much of the blog world.

be still my chromatically triggered heart, those are beautiful! And don't worry about the food burnout, spring will creep into the vegetables soon. I had a carrot the other day and I chewed and I chewed and it hit me that it tasted *different*, like sweeter and fuller and full of life, and it's only almost march! Salad days are coming! and oooooh, 100,000 hits, congratulations! :D

I hear ya -- I think we all have the end-of-winter blahs a little bit. I'm ready for some spring food (and cheaper produce prices!!) I have a feeling we'll all be blogging like crazy once the produce is back and better than ever!

Bazu, no worries - we're all busy, and sometimes blogging has to take a "back seat." But never fear!! I have been and always WILL be a faithful reader of your blog!!

I'm partial to the green, yellow AND orange mosaics!! :0)

Oh, oh--I hope I'm #100,000.

I hear you about blogging. Work sure gets in the way of life sometimes, doesn't it? I adore your Bazu-wear. It's ba-zu-tiful, like you.

Oooo, I really like the green one! I see bitter melons in that collage. Can I ask how you prepared them? I have two sitting in my refrigerator and can't think of how to use them.

Neat mosaics! Food is so colorful. :-) Congratulations on having so many hits.. must be because your blog is soooo cool! Heh. I'll check out that CafePress thing now!

Ooh I love the mosaics!

You know I can relate to your post - I did take like three months off! Have no fear, though, spring will appear soon and you'll want to blog more than ever. (Although I'm questioning what I just wrote about spring since it's snowed for about 24 hours straight here...)

Oh, tell me about it. My desire to blog waxes and wanes every couple months or so. I am so ready for spring, it's not even funny. Even though it's sunny and in the 20's here (which for us, is like summer!) I still have the winter blah's. But anyway, your mosaics are BEAUTIFUL--great work. :)

Ashasarala said...

Your mosaic is awesome! It's even better that it's separated by color! I can see how easily addicting that is.

I am with ya on the winter blues. But fear not, spring is just around the corner!

Thank you, everybody!

Rural Vegan, I haven't cooked with bitter melon yet, but several people offered really good suggestions in the comments section of this post: http://wherestherevolution.blogspot.com/2007/11/in-honor-of-world-vegan-day.html

Check it out!

Blogging blahs...ehh, know what you mean. (Obviously!)

You've been making better use of your time, though, because those mosaics are gorgeous and really highlight the beauty of natural food.
