Happy Summer!!

I want to wish everyone a happy, fun-, and food-filled start to the summer! I hope you all get the most of your long weekends, and I can't wait to catch up with everyone next week.

As you're out celebrating, enjoying the sun, or traveling, just remember,

for the love of humanity

and everything good in the world,

DON'T get caught dead in one of these:

A lovely, only-in-America, I don't give a crap about the environment model pick-up truck/stretch limo... sigh.

omg, that makes me sick.

Your last couple of posts have been awesome... loved learning more about you. I drive myself crazy listening to conservative radio in the car.. but I can't seem to help myself. I also used to goto Hillbilly Housewife message boards a lot. I was so intrigued by that sort of lifestyle.. I found that all in all, we had many of the same values and ideas.. but the differences were HUGE.

I KNOW! There's a limo service I pass on the way to work that has a lot full of those and the Hummers. So gross. I thought those were only down here in redneck country.

mmm... so true. I always feel bad when I see these 'vehicles'..

I've never seen a pick-up truck limo before -- what will they think of next?

I loved learning more about you -- a think there's a little voyeur in all of us.

Love the thai restaurant food. I haven't had thai since I moved and I'm missing it.

at first glance of the "limotruck" i was saying to myself "what the hell is that?" and then i was disgusted when i realized what is was.

and to atxvegn...i've discovered that every state i've been in has it's own redneck country. it's scary.

What is the point of that? That is the most ridiculous thing I've seen in a long, long time.
Your previous post was amazing though! All of that food looks great. I've never been to Syracuse - your last photo looks stunning!

Yikes! All I can say is "good grief" and I hope I don't encounter that behemoth on the road. Hope you and Daiku have a safe and fun holiday weekend :)

I haven't commented on your blog in a while, so here goes:

That stretch limo is disgusting. And sad. It's so pathetic and horrible that some people need something like that to feel good about themselves (I can't imagine any other reason to have one-- it's so excessive and wasteful and impractical). I really, really try not to be a self-righteous vegan, and I dont usually talk about it or try to force my beliefs on anyone else, but between us, it really makes me angry the way some people don't even think for a second about the impact that their choices have on the environment, and therefore future generations.

Anyway! That said, I hope you have a wonderful long weekend, and that the weather is pleasant! (It's tooooo hot in NYC...already.)

And, thinking of your previous posts: I hope you're getting better from the bike spill! Those hands look so painful. I hate getting cuts on my hands because they take forever to heal, and it's so frustrating not to be able to use the hands as freely as normal.

And the fennel! Oh, the fennel. I bought a head of fennel today especially for that recipe. I think I'll try making it tomorrow. Thanks for posting it.

Hey Bazu! It's been a while.
I agree with Melody, looking back on your last few posts. I'm sorry about your bike spill (yikes! Hope it's better now) and I like your 7 things meme. And that restaurant looks real nice. Have a great summer!

Hmmm, so when you and 50 of your closest friends need luxury transportation to an event, want to waste gas while you're at it, and also need to pick up some gravel, manure, and lumber on the way home...

That's about the only scenario I can think of.

Very strange.

My first two reactions were: What the f***! and then Why!? What the hell is the purpose of a limo/pick-up truck? Is the truck part to throw the drunks in so they puck outside of the limo? I just don't get it? (shaking my head in disbelief)

Those things should be outlawed. I just enjoyed catching up on your awesome blog, Bazu. I hope your hands are healed, I loved your lemon story, and when we meet, it'll be a continental greeting! :o)

Oh that's obscene! I'm on vacation right now and have seen way too many stretch limos on the street, but nothing like that.

I remember the first time I saw one of them limos, I ran away screaming like a banshee! what on earth? why? whyyyyyyyyy?

That limo is almost comical if weren't real!

It's like a morbidly obese vehicle. And we wonder why the rest of the world hates us.

On a similar ntote, as city dwellers who [rarely] drive a small, fuel efficient car, we are always cursing the SUV's that take up 3 parking spaces--not to mention the harm they do to the environment.

Brooke said...

Oh my goodness, that vehicle is hideous.

Oooh that's odd looking! A pick-up truck/limo? Very odd combination!

I hope you had a great Memorial Day and that your hands have healed up by now!!

i have a fantasy of making t-shirts with hummers on them and then the words "environmental terrorist" underneath (wearing them around the o.c.--aka the hummer capital of the world--would really be an experience). you could just as easily substitute a picture of this thing on my fantasy t-shirt, however...

Nice. (ugh)

I haven't seen one of those lumbering along the 101 yet here in Los Angeles. I'm sure it's only a matter of time, though. They like the Hummer limo in these parts. I can only image the mileage isssues in that thing.

As my mom is fond of saying - "gallons to the mile."

Oh wow! That’s crazy! Who comes up with these things?!

I was trying and trying to think about what in the world one would use the limo truck for when it finally hit me. The truck part is to hold all of the beer kegs for the drunken party-goers.

Anonymous said...

This limo is really big and I also don't understand how it moves on narrow streets. There are so many big roads, it can move there without any problems.

Anonymous said...

Yes, this combination of pick-up truck/limo is not new, it's good unless it doesn't block all traffic on the road.

That is by far the most badass vehicle I have every laid my eyes upon. I so wish that I can get one of those for my wedding. :D
